I'm considering ordering a singlespeed bike through the cycle scheme. Any suggestions for me to take a look at. I'm not decided on whether to get a cx bike or mtb.

Dayone disc looks suitably expensive.

I went CX as I had nothing bigger than 26 and thought it would be useful/fun. In practice I've ridden it for a lot more than expected.

I reckon it comes down to what you have a need for and the odd off chance that your work expect to see you commute on it (I believe some self run schemes of attempt to check this - my work sign up to a third party scheme as I think most do).

Far bikes look fun but if imagine them getting quite old for commuting pretty quickly!

Bear in mind it's not really yours for a year or more and any upgrading from standard needs to be reversible in case it needs returning for some reason.

I fancy one if these pinnacle arkose ten speed cross bike with hydraulic discs. Plus its very green.

More great suggestions. The fat bike is a bit too niche for me but the Pinnacle could be a winner. Disc brakes on a road(ish) bike - brilliant!
