I have a Decathlon Rockrider 8.2, which I bought 4.5 years ago. It has been great, but I have noticed recently that the rear wheel does not sit square inside the rear triangle. It leans to the left by the chain and seat stays, but is worse by the seat stay. I have had a Maxxis Ardent 2.25 in the back and it is close to touching the left stay behind the bottom bracket. It also does not help with mud clearance.

I (and the shop) have checked and it is not the following:

-dishing of the wheel
-buckled wheel
-bearings needing to be replaced (these have been done recently)
-drop outs don't seem to be excessively worn on either side.

I have taken it to a Decathlon shop - do you think I am being unreasonable asking them to sort this under warranty? The warranty is 5 years on the frame. (I have not crashed the bike badly, landed heavily from air, mainly because I don't get any, nor are there any dings in the frame that could have caused this).

Edited for spelling.

Not unreasonable at all. You are still in the warranty period! You have proof of purchase date?
It would be unreasonable if you expected them to give you a full new bike. Frame fixed or replaced would be right IMO.

Thanks both. I do have proof of purchase. Has been seen by a workshop technician and a colleague to 'verify' the issue, but now apparently store manager wants to see it as well.

Will see what they say next week! They don't make that particular model any more, but I think the model below (8.1) which is still made, has the same frame.

It's been like that for 4.5 years and you've not noticed? - that's what they'll ask I guess...tho I don't see how a user can cause this.

I expect the store manager wants to see it in order to get an idea of how you've treated it. I would.

Yeah def take it back well within your rights,

Although do expect them to put up a fight. Even the best customer services would due to you riding a bent frame for 4.5 years.

Always helps to clean it up as best as you can for when you take it in.

By way of update I took the bike back mid December.

There was a few discussions with different staff and eventually I had to take it in to show the store manager. I think they were not sure of me as it was an old bike and I had previously worked at Decathlon.

However, they conceded that there was a problem with the frame and duly replaced it. I now have a similar frame (branded 8XC), which they have today fitted out for me. Seems more than fair.

Just want to give them a nod to say thanks for the good customer service given by Decathlon.
