There is also an absolute affordability issue for emtbs.  I've just done a quick scan of the big brands and it looks like a £2000 additional cost more or less for equivalent e version of a bike.  I've friends who can barely scrape together a grand or so for a new bike or maybe £600 for a second hand.  Dropping an absolute minimum of £3000 for a mid range hard tail would be unimaginable

Until the premium drops significantly and/or the second hand market gets much cheaper a lot of people will be sticking with push bikes

Me too. I was fat then and I'm fat now, the eeb has sweet FA to do with it... I am fitter now than I'ver been though.

We have also  been out cycling with hardly a portly e biker in sight except on our return route on the canal.
