[Closed] Dear STW, what would it take to add a Ebike forum?

Ebikers seem to have very thin skins.

It’s because we ride so fast, the wind erodes it.

Can’t afford clothes as saving for replacement parts?

Will you need to be screened before going on this new forum to make sure you are an e-bike rider or interested in e-bikes to exclude the e-bike haterz?
It's people isn't it; tribalism. Some talk sh1t and can't help but troll. Separating bike genres won't stop that.
I can understand that it would be handy to have somewhere you could go to ask questions/discuss e-bike stuff with other interested people and without childish input from the e-bike haters. Maybe Singletrack isn't the place though.

Sound good, how about a forum on the single track charged website? 😉

Forums with many Subforums are nice easy to search for and find relevant subjects/specific info. Singletrack is terrible in that respect but good if you want a quick reply (often from someone with no clue and no experience of your query).
I like both but I'd rarely come here for reliable info on any of the riding/products I'm most interested in.

I’m neither for or against but do we have a Gravel/Fat/Road/Enduro etc section?
You’d have to change the whole idea of the current forum and turn it into a copy of others

Just been looking at the Channels and the CritCX seems to be a bit better served than the Charged one. But when did the Canyon Channel arrive?

The Grit forum was pretty sparsely populated when it was it's own thing, and Gravel seems less niche than ebikes at the moment. For the number of individuals who would use it, you'd be better off swapping numbers and making a WhatsApp group.

Could have the same number of sub-forums as the German MTB forum
Nice and easy to search, but there'd be like 1 thread or post in every category

I count 15 different sub-forums for bike type (and some of those are split in to sub-sub-forums). They must need a flowchart to specify the rules to decide which subforum a 29er e-fatbike goes in to, cos there's at least 3. And that's only if specifically strictly about the bike and it's 29er/fat/ebike-ness. Then you'd probably get told off, because it belongs in Enduro subforum.

Best thing about here... on-topic and off-topic.

Can we have a different forum for everyone who doesn’t do the same type of riding as me, please.

Just where do I post about new handlebars for my 29er FS?

The MTBR 29er Components forum, of course! Unless it's an All Mountain 29er FS, then maybe the AM forum. Actually, who knows.

The forums slowed down a bit. Take the ebikes away and I'm left with what tyres, help with going 1x and clueless tubeless.

Better stick together

Agree stick together.

Maybe a better method would be to encourage the powers that be to stop messing around with different channels. I mean singletrack snow! Wtf.
And put there efforts into one interesting mag.

I see the advantage of subforums, but I'm not sure what the advantage would be in terms of stopping people taking the mick about ebikes. All that would happen is that you would get groups organising raiding parties from their forum onto the other. This may sound quite sad but happens very often in the wider world affecting everything that there are fora with opposing views and large male memberships...

If they did one, they'd need to include predictive response (as you've probably seen on gmail and elsewhere already).
So the users wouldn't have to strain too hard typing.

Can you get a single speed e bike? that would create a serious amount of hate 🙂

Can we have a forum for plus tyres too? Ooh and a steel hardtail forum. Like others have said having it all in one place is best. Personally I don’t understand the Ebike hate. I’ve never tried one, but live and let live I say. Now plus tyres, they can go **** themselves 😀

will the ebike forum stop working at 15.5mph or will it be chipped?

Only chips are on the shoulders of the haters...set one up, let them froth and then kill it all once they have settled and start a fresh.

Having separate sub-forums makes it much harder to notice a thread I know nothing about and have no interest or experience in and give my opinion on it despite this.

So I'm out.

I think it's to Singletracks's advantage that there are basically 2 forums, bikes and not bikes. Some forums are dreadful to use as stuff is scattered all over the show. Why not an Ebike thread if you have something specific?
