Im looking at getting a set of these lights and have heard horror stories about the chargers going on fire just wondering what people think cheers
Who or what are Deal etreme?
Sounds interesting. Surprised no-one has posted about them.
I have the "Grenade" off eBay which is essentially the same unit - no issues with fire! A mate had his charger die on him but it was replaced easily by the sellers (ultimatehdcables or something)
Tends to only get used for 2 hours max, and it hasn't run out of charge in that time. The full setting is seriously bright, as in it will blind oncoming drivers, so you have to point it down and/or switch to a lower setting when on the road with traffic. The flashing mode will trigger epileptic fits in anyone susceptible.
Beam pattern maybe isn't up to more expensive lights, but the brightness is - I just pootle round the woods for a couple of hours or commute on unlit towpaths and it is great value for money.
Isn't about time this forum had 'stickies'? 😉

I bought one of these a few weeks back and it is seriously bright. for the money nothing else comes close. The previous post is correct, use the half power option on roads and the flashing option only at dangerous junctions/roundabouts etc, as it is really annoyingly bright.
Every day someone else lines themselves up to be spontaenously combusted. Actually the flame / burning threat just ads to the excitement. Normally you just pay extra for such kicks but it's free with the magicshine.
I'm jerking your chain!
Here's some pointers.

Overall - really good. But as a practical bit of advice buy and learn how to use a soldering iron. Seriously. It comes in handy for other stuff too!
And buy a spare extension lead you can use to fix the cable connectors when they short / fray /break.
[Edit] - I've only got the first, second and Mickey Mouse versions. They have probably improved since. And as they may / do fail at the worst possible moments - dont use one (or any light probably) as your only light source. ie use a bar and helmet light (or pay lots).
