The Mrs and I are off to Morzine for a week in August and a friend has suggested that it might be a good idea to go on a day trip with Atlas ride company away from Morzine.

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback or recommendations on the day trips offered by Atlas. As I'm getting ancient and rubbish, I'd be looking for "downcountry" lift assisted singletrack. Nothing too nadgery. In terms of Morzine tracks, the Goat into Les Linderets is probably my favourite.

Atlas are excellent. Formerly MTB Beds and I've been with them a few times.

Out of that lot that I've ridden

Pila - very bike park and was quite blown out a couple of years ago. That being said, there's a long run down into Aosta town that is my favourite run anywhere

La Thuile - Absolute death to be honest. Super steep and technical

Morgins - Bike park but loads of fun

Yeah La Thule has a few mellow trails on the plateau but the rest of it is very much enduro style trails of increasing levels of difficulty (or bravery). Good but probably not what you’re after.

I still have PTSD from doing "the Morgins loop" on the Passportes years ago. Gawd I hated that loop. Then nobody listened to us when we were telling them not to bother at the banana station. Not La Thuile by the sounds of things.

Take a look at Samoens, lift assisted when you get there and the riding is awesome!

There have been quite a few threads on here how to navigate over from the top of Chavnne's and we arranged an uplift back with a bike shop next to the lift station, cost 10€ each

Or you can catch the bus but it only takes 6 bikes

I think it was these guys, it was one of our group that booked it

Are they specifically offering to take you on 'downcountry' trails? I've only been to Morgins and Samoens on that list, and the sort of trails most people go for are not this. Morgins main trails under the lift are a blend between DH and bike park. Samoens are a mix of DH / Enduro with a hint of bike park in the area I rode for a day trip.

If you like 'downcountry' it say riding to these two areas and back would be more enjoyable.

Were you planning to get out of Morzine using the lifts anyway?

You might enjoy taking in some of the PPdS route - especially the GR5 section from memory.

Cheers for that. Well aware of the PPDS route. We accidentally ended up in Morzine the 1st time it was held and have done it a few times since. I can keep myself pretty happy just riding around the region, but wanted hear what folk of the destinations offered by Atlas as an alternative day out. I normally spend some cash on a couple of half days of 1:1 guided riding in any case (with rideability).
