Looking for a campsite for the weekend, ideally fairly quiet, short walking distance to a pub and riding straight from the site. Will probably be riding Haytor, Lustleigh, Hammeldown, Hound of the Basket Meals area.
And can someone post a map or OS ref to the rocky descent off Belever Tor, I've not managed to find it on two previous occassions.
cheers

Living within riding distance of the moor means I don't take much notice of campsites etc, so not a great help there I'm afraid. One I can think of is the Plume of Feathers pub in Princetown. Obviously very close to a pub ๐ Good location for the Princetown/Burrator loop, and not too far from Bellever, but a fair way from Lustleigh and Hound Tor.
Edit - Another camp site here
Can't think of many others - there are very few on the moor. The River Dart Country Park at Ashburton is a big site, good facilities and well regarded for families, but might not be what you're looking for.

I can see this place out the window and I habitually ride Houndtor, Haytor, Lustleigh, Hameldown from my gate.. (Lustleigh Cleave is a 20 minute road ride through Bovey and Haytor is a 30 minute climb)
^ what Yunki says. Forgot about The Welcome Stranger, but in my defence it is quite new as a camp site.
Thanks.
Anyone know if you can ride out off the dart country park off road or is the area strictly out off bounds?
