One for Troute / smudge perhaps . Is there any reason why 3 D cells , wired in series would not power a single XML for 4 or 5 hours .

Instead of using 1 x 18650 , use 3 x D cells . approx four fold increase in mah .

$20 for a mini XML flashlight

Then do a cut and shut on the torch , wire in the battery pack and keep the tail cap clicky for mode switching
$44 = £27, plus a bar mount and battery pack water bottle holder
