I knew I was getting a new helmet (a Leatt DB2 I selected).

However mrs_oab surprised me with a pair of Shimano MW5 boots as well.

The kids had listened to my moans, and bought me a Montane skull cap that covers my ears, for under helmet in winter.

😎

What cycling pressies have you got?

A Birzman saddlebag wrap thingy, and the GCN cookbook.

OK, I may have bought them myself and given them to MrsMC to wrap up, but at least I got what I wanted this year.

Nothing but peace and quiet. We spent the money we would of spent buying stuff and took the camper on a lap of the NC500, currently in Skye, on our own in the middle of nowhere. Perfect.

Got my first ever set of Maguras for the Piglet. Liking them so far although I suspect the thermoplastic levers won't take much abuse!

A toblerone, that’s pretty cycling related isn’t it?

Also some cash, which I could spend on online bits, but we’re off to LA in feb if omicron doesn’t scupper it so I’ll probably save it and spend it on donuts instead

Leatherman Squirt for my gravel bike bar bag and a Granite Cricket bell. Unfortunately the cow bell clanger is missing, so that’s going back for exchange.

Also got a a Vorsprung Smashpot from HMRC, thanks to a nice pre-Xmas tax refund.

It was Muc Off tubeless kit for me.
And benefitting from having the best wife ever I fitted it while she cooked an amazing Christmas lunch!

I feel I must have done something wrong though....
Bonty wheels tubeless ready, tyres tubeless ready (but well used) Fitted the valves and pumped them up with a std track pump... No fighting to seal nothing.. held pressure nicely. After the post dinner dog walk I went back to the garage and added sealant... All good.
Look forward to getting out and trying it now.

Also got the cyclepal tyre lever tool thing. Not really needed on the mountain bike tyres so I pop a roadie tyre on and off. Game changer! No cursing, broken fingers etc etc. Shame it's too big for popping in a road jersey.

I got a 'voucher' from my wife to pay for 'somewhere cool on your bikepacking trip'.

It's basically her way of saying 'we're going to make time for you to go bikepacking', which is really awesome considering how much of a challenge that is for us at the moment.

On the basis that I mostly but what I want when I need it (non-gratuitously), for Christmas I asked for donations to rewilding forestry projects in Scotland which is kind of offsetting but also what I want to happen and family are happy to oblige they get similar in return.

Similar to stevious, I also ask for time away on my bike as a present to reduce fully when I go away!

New Time pedals from MrsA- lovely. To go on the new bike that didn't turn up on the 21st (but should be here in February!)

Mrs A received a top from here that is WAY too small and a pair of Shimano shoes that don't fit quite right either.

But none of that matters, because all five of us (and the dog) got to sit together around the table and eat rather too much, which was more than nice 🙂

Nothing (bike related)-- my wife refuses to bother with bike shops or websites. I of course have to check out perfume, jewellery, ladies clothes and other esoteric shops and sites.
At least one of the kids bought me a bottle of whiskey.

Pal and I want to do the 5 ferries road bike ride off the west coast of Scotland.
https://www.fionaoutdoors.co.uk/2016/10/great-bike-rides-the-five-ferries-route.html
Our wives have booked a weekend for both families on the route in a nice hotel...and we can spend the Saturday to go off and do the route.
Absolutely splendid, will be a top weekend and looking forward to the route 👍

And my annual request of CRC vouchers from most of the family. This is usually used to buy something I would consider a luxury I cannot afford.

Gore C3 undershorts to replace some that are 10 years old and falling apart.

New Giro Chronicle helmet to replace my Montaro which was starting to look tatty, labels peeling etc. I was quite annoyed until I realised it's more than 5 years old.

I got a Shimano wind breaker thing. It's really nice. Not super fancy or anything but a little pocket on the back and a little unzipped pocket on the chest. The cuffs have two poppers so they can be rolled up the arm.

I would say it's the perfect design for me. And it's a noice colour too.
