I've already discovered some great natural/local trails around Machen and Rudry - I was just wondering if there was anything similar over by Abercam/Cwmcarn?
I am looking for something more natural, and less busy, than the trail centre. I am happy to go exploring with an OS map but, is there anywhere particular I should start?
I enjoy XC and a bit of downhill (by downhill I mean riding the downhill trail slowly whilst gripping the brakes in terror!)
I've heard there is an old downhill trail nearby?
Any advice appreciated.
Nothing to see here, move along, not alot no, most of the stuff round that way has been flatened over the past few year by the forestry and the moor about Cwmcarn is pretty wet this time of year
The Castle Bikes group rides starting from Caerphilly are really good for exploring the areas you are describing. I think a couple of guys head over to Cwm Carn from Caerphilly on a pretty regular basis but I have never had the legs! Get in touch with them and I'm sure someone will have the knowledge. Great group to ride with 😀
