Just bought some new bars for the Offspring. He is a smallish 11 and whilst the 760s look very "Enduro" i think I need to take a little bit off.
Was looking for the fine toothed hacksaw when I spotted a pipe cutter and curiosity has now got the better of me. Any reason it would not do the job?

It will do the job. I've used a pipe cutter for bars, seatposts and steerer tubes in the past. Just beware they may, but not definitely, leave some small marks. And don't forget to deburr!

Yeah, it works, but it takes a while

none at all. It will do a much better job than the hacksaw.
Spend the most time with the file afterwards to smooth things off properly

You of course mean ally bars and a plumbing pipe cutter. Probably will work, as long as it a good quality cutter with a decent hardened steel wheel, the copper its designed for is a lot softer and thinner walled. Assuming you do it slowly the worst is likely to be a damaged wheel if its made of yamaha/shimano chocolate steel

It will be fine as long as the blade is in good condition.

I have cut a steel steerer with the cheapest cutter imaginable zero issues they are used to cut steel cable ducting not just copper.

Tis done..... Like a knife through butter. Not really but not much longer than a hacksaw and certainly easier to guarantee square ends. I think I may have to take a little more off after he has tried them in anger.

I use a pipe cutter, then get the burrs off with one of these bad boys, Ice Toolz chamfering stone. Works a treat!
