Who else was there this sunday and what did you think of the course?
I am not too sure if I liked it that much. Too much riding on bumpy grass(holes caused by horses/cattle hooves?) and some sections I found unrideable(maybe my lack of talent). Some parts that connected singletrack seemed like it was created by a Bulldozer a week before.
I never realy got that 'flowing' feeling ( like a rollercoaster track) that I got from the track at Bordon.
Am I just talking rubbish or did some of you actually enjoy the course?
Didn't race this one due to exams/lack of training but wished i had as crowthorne is normally a great track... Were they using part of the motoX track this year?
Look foward to the next race, more training and no exams!
ttf, you are a couple of miles off course ๐
the race was at crow hill in the new forest (more like rain forest... don't ask, we were camping from the saturday next to the course).
sometimes i also mix crowthorne and crow hill up.
I have done in the past but didn't this year. If it is anything like before then yes they do seem to cut parts of the race just a couple of weeks before hand.
oops! yes. i did mean crow hill..just got the names muddled up
I was there. I don't think it's fair to criticise the course too much considering the biblical amounts of rain that'd been experienced, it held up pretty damn well I thought.
The bridges were a bit sketchy, I went down hard on the second one after the feed zone (after the long one, turned right onto it), and spoke to about 5 other people who had done too!
I think had it been dry it would have been awesome, but as it was it was still pretty good.
None of the MX course this year. But to my knowledge none (or very little) was actually new, so it was just riders ploughing through that made it so wide.
Just need to bring my legs to the next one...
Thanks for putting it in perspective Nick, the rain did fall a bit...
We were in a tent in the campsite from Saturday and all was well until about 6 am on Sunday morning. Those bridges could do with some chikenwire over them( some did have ). My boy did enjoy his mini course ๐
I was there too, turned up in my usual late fashion at the back of the open!! I DID NOT HEAR "GO, A HORN OR ANYTHING AT THE START" i wasnt even on the bike and nor were a few others at the back, all thinking wtf lol
Anyway wasnt an issue as at the 1st downhill bend bit everyone crashed, and one twunt crashed into me causing me to bleed with nice crank imprints!!
Basically the first lap was a nightmare trying to overtake, virtually gave up as it was very sketchy and people were all over the show.
2 lap i got free of the slow pack and got good pace going, no incedents on the bridges or climbs and decided to run the only 1 unrideable section of mud/swap/quicksand?!
3rd lap i was tireing fast and half way round i got caught by the Juniors and vets, so was having to move and slowdown alot.
Juniors caught up and they did not indicate where they were going and were a bit frantic and all over the place tbh
JUNIOR, RIDER, MOVE! yea nice
VETS were totally different, and they passed with clear instruction and no delay.
3rd lap i kind of ground to a halt and to top it off the last grassy climb (you know the one with the glaleforce headwind) i got overtaken about 3 seconds from the finish line as i didnt hear him approaching, pushing me out of the 20's, bugger!
Almost forgot to mention my left grip half slid off and people were looking at me a bit strange ๐ and my right spd kept clogging up with mud!
So it was a love/hate course really, didnt flow to well due to the mud slowing it down but could have been a lot worse.
Complete contrast to Bordon which was ubber fast and flowing! awesome fun!
