[Closed] Crossmarks front and rear?

It's summer here and the trails are bone dry with a mix of rocks, sand and loose over hardpack. Looking for something fast but not a delicate race tyre. Size? Well probably a genuine 2.1" or 2.2". Currently have a 2.35/2.1 front/rear Nevegal combo which is just over-kill, too knobly for the terrain. They can't bite in as it's all baked hard so they feel like hard work for little benefit. Bike? 140mm full susser, that's lagging behind my new buddies! I'm working on the saddle hours needed to up my game as well. What do you think? TIA

I rode crossmarks front and rear for most of last year on my 29er hardtail and they were fine.

If it's baked hard they will be fine and fast as. Its just when it gets damp they can suffer, especially the harder compound ones which can become lethal!

Loose over hardpack is where I found my crossmark the most wanting.

Any kind of 'substantive torque' i.e. singlespeeding, and it didn't have the ground penetration and just spat traction.

I found the Aspen superior all round, except on tarmac.

When the trails get that dry I run Ignitors F&R, very fast and pretty damn grippy too

i ran crossmark 2.25s towards the end of last year, a fair bit of Lakes and woodland riding, with the right pressures in they seem to cope with most things and roll like a slick, great volume too! Be ideal for dry conditions but may have trouble with the loose over hardpack, Larsens or similar may be better here but have never tried them personally as i rate the crossmarks for dry days.

Got them front and rear for trans alp. 2.25 LUST versions. Roll well at trail centre and adjusting the pressures helps

Ran the LUST version for most of last year & found them capable in most conditions although, as mentioned above, you need to get the pressures right.
