Just did a cyclocross race last week on MTB and quite enjoyed it. Given I can't afford yet another bike right now, I was thinking of sticking some 26 inch cross tyres on my XC bike to speed things up a bit and get that authentic skating on ice feeling through the wet grassy corners. can anyone recommend any?

From my brief bit of web surfing it looks like Schwalbe do one but only in wire bead, so a bit heavy I presume, and Maxxis do some sort of Larsen cross version which seems to get slagged for poor durability.

Any thoughts?

Conti used to do a 1.5" tyre IIRC.

Conti cross country if you can find some.

I used to race XC on Conti 1.5's, fast but a little sketchy at times 😀

I've used both Schwalbe CX Pro 1.35's and Conti Twister 1.5's cross racing on an mtb.
Much preferred the CX Pro's - fast rolling and grippy enough even when very muddy. The Conti's had a very aggressive tread which felt quite draggy on wet grass. Also not sure if the Conti's are still available.
