How sad am I? It's Christmas day and I'm starting a conversation about cabling up a bike.
So, do you cross in front of the head tube or not? Crossing seems to keep the cables clearer of the head tube but not crossing means shorter runs and not having to cross back again elsewhere on the frame.
I've used both in the past. Your thoughts?
A cross for Christmas would seem appropriate...
Usually yes. Depends on the cable runs but it gives larger radius corners which reduces cable drag and wear.
it depends on the position of the cable guides; typically you see many frames with a bias towards european brake setup which can affect the cabling for british setup riders
some frames will accept crossed cables, others won't
if I can cross cables, I always will as it gives better cable performance and usually prevents contact with head tube or fork crown
Completely depends on how the cable runs are on the bike....
Cross if you can.
I've typically always crossed for the last ten years or so, but I like to keep an open mind. Seems I have been doing it "right".
