Has anyone taken their bike up Criffel and if so what route did you use? I'll be riding from Dalbeattie.

yes many moons ago

2.1/2hr hike in the snow and ice for a new year bit of daftness.

Never ever again, it`s hard enough to walk up/down without taking a bike.

Avoid, enjoy Dalbeattie.

If you do want to do it start in New Abbey and head up the path via Knockendock(sp?)and return same.

There has been some new roads put in round the back for forest operations but not been for a look or heard of anyone else trying it, pretty boggy in places. You could lose yourself!!!

If you want an extreme ride use Bilsons link to ride over and back to Mabie, acessed via forest road behind Southwick East Lodge. Or add the coastal path trail from Portling to Kipford.

Also a couple of hrs worth of "cheeky" trails if you know where to look and link together.
