I'm in the process of building a set of Stan's no tubes crest ZTR. having problems getting the tyres on??? can anyone give me advice on the best way to set them up tubeless.. What tape or rim strip and valve to use??? I was considering stans yellow tape and the MTB valves, does this work for anyone on there Crests???? Cheers Ant
I've just done my Stan's 355's with the Stan's Yellow tape & valves.
If you go to youtube and search for installing yellow tape etc you'll get the Stan's videos.
It's dead easy with the proper gear:
- Take any rim tape you have off the rim.
- Run a scotch pad round the rim & into the grooves to deglaze it.
- Clean with brake cleaner & paper towel.
- Apply yellow tape, nice and tight pushing it down into the rim.
- Overlap by about 5" and cut.
- Do little cross with a knife for valve.
- Put tyre half on, install a tube and inflate to 40psi, leave overnight for best results; this seats the tape properly.
- Take one side of tyre off, remove tube, insert Stan's valve.
- Re-seat most of tyre, pulling bead onto the bit it catches on.
- Put in required amount of sealant.
- Pump like a teenage boy watching baywatch (or cheat and use a compressor)
- Check for leaks and waggle the wheel about if there are any 'till they stop.
job Done
cheers steve, just to clarify do you only use the yellow tape??? or do you use the rubber rim strip aswell???
cheers Ant
just the yellow tape (21mm) and the stans bolt in valves!
Same here, yellow tape and Stans valves on Crests. Sounds crazy, works brilliantly...
Yup only the tape & valves on 355's & Crests
