I'm getting this annoying creak coming from somewhere within my drivetrain whenever I pedal hard up a steep hill in a low gear.
Having inspected/greased most parts of the 9-speed XT drivetrain (I even oiled the spokes at the point of intersection and greased up the QR skewer), I think the noise might stem from the Hope Pro 2 rear hub.
FYI, the hub came with am aluminium freehub body, which is fairly bitten by the sprockets.
They're pretty popular hubs, so I was wondering whether anyone else has experienced a similar problem?
Cheers,
Peter
I had an annoying creak that I finally traced to my Hope Pro II hub (after removing / regreasing BB, Seat Post and changing suspension bearings).
Changing the freehub bearings got rid of the creak once and for all.
And yes the grooves on the freehub body is a common problem too.
take it apart and see if the freehub moves on the axle, could be the bearings, not expensive to get them replaced.
Check the freehub for cracks. It does happen occasionally but hope have always been really good about it.
It'll be the bearings the cassette body run on. Yank it off clean n regrease should see it good. Had this on mine last month took a while to track it down..
