Doing the 100km next weekend and not sure whether to do it on my carbon hardtail with semi slicks (or other) or full sus stumpjumper. I've not ridden around Ruthin before so not sure what the terrain is like and how much will be on fire roads/ roads or off road.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Gareth

Undulating, sheep poo, lots of sheep poo and more sheep poo, rocks, railwayssleepers, if its wet trails that turn into streams running down hill, nice scenery, and thats about it

Well these reviews make me almost glad I'm not able to do next weeks any more - doesn't sound that fun to be honest!

BIG ass road climb to start, greasy fast grass descent, big loose gravel climb,muddy/rooty single track, sheep poop, bit of fire road, wide fast rocky descent, bit of road.Easily the best course of the series (selkirk close 2nd).Rode a reccy on the cx bike yesterday....pretty muddy!Only doing the night one as I'm marshalling/heckling on sunday.

Thanks for the info guys, rode the marin trail and Llangedla black on my hardtail with pumped up semi slicks this weekend and was in pain, wasn't sure whether to try it this weekend but think I might use it on Sunday

Did the Brecon beast - it was not dry. Weather great but tracks as nearly always are streams ๐Ÿ™‚ not complaining I took FS with tyres to cope. Saw a couple of CX'ers hats off to them it didnt look like fun on the rocky downhills though. Each to there own I guess.

I'm undecided too - '04 Mount Vision with 2.1" Mythos XC II tyres or the big Wolf Ridge with 2.35" High Roller/ Conti Vert combo.

Mount vision is a LOT lighter, but the Wolf Ridge is more sure-footed...

Hmmm.

Luckily I am an equal opportunities heckler/marshal....you are all equally worthless in my eyes ,regardless of what you are riding and derision will be handed out on a fisrt come first severed basis.....possibly in fancy dress.Except for people on ss/fixie/cx bikes...they'll be getting biscuits.

Should imagne it'll be pretty muddy and heavy going, its my local riding area, and I rode all the trails round there about a fortnight ago just before I went away on holiday and it was really muddy then, apparently its been raining a fair bit here since.

Very very muddy, wet and slippy, pictures up soon possibly tomorrow on a new thread.

But saying that a big thankyou to all the riders who rode or walked and even fell off, the marshalls and the organisers, and the first aid teams.
