A couple of weeks back I was involved in a bike accident in London where a woman walked out from in front of a double decker bus without looking, between stationary traffic waiting for a traffic light. (Outside Angel tube for anyone who knows London) despite 2 pedestrian crossings very close by.

It was an instant impact which broke my front wheel and left me with lots of cuts and torn clothing. She had a bang to the jaw and was checked over in hospital.

I'm basically out of pocket by £380 because of her negligence.

She has ignored my communications stating my damage. I have 3 witness details to the accident.

Is it worth taking legal action to recoup my costs or is this just going to end up getting expensive?

MM

Cost of new wheel/rotor/assos bibs/rapha shorts

I was hoping she may have offered to cover some of the costs

It all depends if she contests it, which is what i would do, even if i was liable, as i would not want to incur the costs of being pursued by a solicitor. It would be very hard to prove negligence in court, and your witnesses may not be as willing to attend court as they were to give you details.
Small claims might work, and thats easy to do, but IF she contests liability, it could turn into a wild goose chase.

Of course she may be readying herself for a counterclaim against you, for damage, injury, shock etc. A physical injury claim will massively outweigh your £380.

i'm not very positive on your chances of getting any money

Sounds like a bit of blame on both sides. 50/50 at best and I doubt you'll get that if she digs her heels in. Might end up costing you more.
