Crankset Q factor -...

[Closed] Crankset Q factor - recommend Mrs Stratobiker a new chainset.

Mrs Stratobiker currently runs an old S-Works Four Arm chainset. The Q factor - distance from crank arm face to crank arm face where the pedals fit - is low at around 160mm. Shimano XT ones are roughly 174mm.

The problems....
1. It's difficult to get chainrings for the old S-Works Chainset.
2. If she uses a shimano chainset she finds she's always catching her heels on the cranks, and she gets insole blisters 'cos she has flat feet.

So, can anyone recommend a chainset with a low Q factor?

Thanks in advance, and fingers crossed.

SB

IIRC, FSA cranks have a 169mm q factor, so they're somewhere in between...though it would still feel a bit wide in comparison to the s-works cranks

Why do wives feel morally superior because they won't buy new bikes?
Mine invariably tells people that she has had the same bike for years and doesn't see why I have to have a new one every 5 minutes DESPITE the fact I have replaced every component apart from the frame a good few times.I have tried to point out the paddy's broom analogy but to her it is the same colour therefore the same bike regardless the expense of upgrades. Next time she complains something is worn out I will paint it.

Surely this only leaves more money for you to spend on new bikes? ๐Ÿ˜‰
