[#1671683]

I ordered a M770 XT hollowtech chainset from a large internet bike store, it arrived with no original packaging, fair enough, but it was missing the freaking crank arm fixing bolt.

This is the final piece of the new build and is now stopping me ride!

The part number is Y-1F8 11100 but I assume this is it?

Just ask em for the bolt, saying that it easy but getting it from chainreaction is a pain, they are totaly useless when the **** up.

This order in particular has been fraught with trouble, whilst the other half a dozen or so orders from them have been fine.

I just want the bolt today as the wife and children are away for the weekend and I plan on riding my arse off both days.

Just a thought, check it's not inside the Bottom Bracket plastic tube.

(I say this because I thought the same thing had happened with an SLX chainset from CRC but that's where I found it hiding !)

Good tip, I have however had a PM form a shop in Göteborg who are going out of their way to get me one today. Great community effort as I posted a request on the Swedish site happymtb.org

So expect a new bike thread later today 😉

Surely you don't actually need it for anything more than the fitting. If you could go into the LBS and ask to borrow one off any bike, fit your cranks and give the bolt back, then you just need to wait for a new one to arrive. That's what I did when I was in the same situation with an FSA Megaexo set a while back (though I'm lazy and never got around to buying a new bolt).

Not really, once parts 3 are tightened up it's not doing anything - though whether you could actually get it back out again is another matter.

I'd just like to add that I had 1st class service from CRC this morning, prompt and with all the answers I wanted.

Thanks Adam,

Alex

If you had a wide enough vice or G Clamp you could use that to pre-load the cranks then do up the pinch bolts. Once they're done up the part is irrelevant. The function is the same as your aheadset stem top cap.

That's when you say, "Oops, sorry. I guess I'd better just take it with me. Here have a cake."

Got one, and the plastic tool to fit it. Super service from my LTMOBS, (local to my office bike shop).

Build will be complete tonight, happy man!
