Tempted by one of those cheap Ti456s to build up my trance onto, but a few things put me off it (stupid fatty head tube for one) but THEN i noticed that according to the paperwork, the Cotic Soul is nigh on the same weight.
Always fancied a soul, and would fit my trance build perfectly.
Show me your souls! (please)
If you insist...

I liked mine very much. But I think it's possible I like my C456 more. (no good pics, but it looked exactly the same as all the other black Souls with white forks!)
OTOH the Soul was pretty, and the C456 is pretty bloody hideous.
Someone mention getting a Soul?

go on then if I must 🙄
This is my 2nd one
now with an I beam GD, a Gamut dual Chain device and some 970 XTR Cranks.
Oh and the fork set at 130mm
Absolutely love em, would not be without one.

Metalheart - is that the small frame? That looks the dogs bo**ocks.
As a longtime Bontrager fan, I love the, er, Bontrager-ness of them (not least the gussets & wishbone).
I'm slowly building mine up...
prezet: you are wrong about the size (its a medium) but you are right about the rest... 😀
tinribz: funnily enough I've not seen many other Cotics out there full stop.
Mind you I really should get out more...

Had mine over a year now and fair to say it's had a good outing. It still gives me confidence.
This is my second one, first one lasted me 6 years before I succumbed to temptation and bought an FS and sold my Soul. Didn't realise that I had actually sold my Soul so bought another 18 months later. Running it with 120mm forks and its nice to have my Soul back again.
I sometimes wish I had got a soul instead of my carbon 456 - they do look lovely. What is the TT length like compared to On Ones?
My new Bfe should get its forks tomorrow-can't wait!!!!
What size would people recommend for someone 6", I'm in-between a medium and large and the nearest test ride is nearly 100miles away?
I love mine, even raced it round Kielder 100 last yr and completed
It is a confidence inspiring bike especially with some decent forks on. I've just swapped front RS Revs at 120mm to some Fox RL's 140mm. I'm running them a bit slow on the rebound and the bike is riding the best its ever felt. DO IT 8)
ps i'm 6'2 and ride a large comfortably without a layback seatpost. Put some lovely wide bars on and a Maxxis Advantage 2.4 on the front it really is a burly mountain bike, flippin love it!!
@fathomer: What do you ride at the moment? Would you like it to be longer, shorter or about the same? FWIW I'm 5'10" and ride a medium with straight seatpost and 60mm stem, although my bike isn't as XC oriented as some Souls. I like it very very much, wouldn't change anything about it.
@ chiefgrooveguru, currently ride an 18' Cube ltd pro, feels about right but would like to run a short stem (100mm currently) to sharpen things up a little. I'd be using 120mm Rebas if that makes any difference? Not sure about colour either!
@fathomer Your current frame is closer to the large than the medium in length and I have quite a lot of seatpost sticking out at XC height and am almost 2" shorter than you, so I'd lean towards a large. I'd get that short stem now and see how you like the fit of the Cube with it - mine is from Carboncycles; they do a 60mm O/S one for £20 which seems hard to fault for non-freeride purposes!
Can't be arsed to post a pic at the mo (wife in bed waiting!) - love mine and glad it's custard!
Been window shopping as I haven't been able to get out for 3 weeks and am getting restless. Retrieved single speed yesterday and the short climb up the hill home nearly popped me. think I will build that up geared for now (456summerseason) with lighter wheels and see how I get on off the squidgey bike for a while before Spaffing on yet another new frame...
Ben, what wheels?
hmmm
this isn't helping me kerb my urge to get one... if someone had a 2010 or 11 medium frame they wanted shot of...
this isn't helping me kerb my urge to get one
When you do, will you be doing curb-hops on it? 😀
Keep getting the urge to swap my 2007 Black Soul (pre-CEN) for a 2010-11 post-CEN Orange. All these pics or shiny orange ones aren't helping.
medium be a bit small surely?
6ft1" and riding a large frame with a 90mm stem. Feels right as well. Medium would definitely be too small. Love my FS, and thought after building it up it would be a week long love afair before sending it back to the classified from where it came.
Nope, it's here to stay. Love it.
The only negative I've found, is the back wheel is really hard to get out. Not a fan of the cowled dropouts. 😡
Spoken to Cy on the phone to get some more decals. Really nice guy, and a pleasure to deal with.
(and yes, the brake hoses have been shortened since)
Easily my best bike, always a pleasure to ride!

They're ace, do it!
Re. sizing - I'm bang on 6' and the large is definitely right for me (test rode and purchased at the excellent Dales Bike Centre). U-turn Revelations are just the ticket - tight and nimble for singletrack, capable enough to get me out of trouble in the big stuff.

trailofdestruction, what skewers are you using? I've found the dropouts really easy to use with XTs.
