I'm hoping an owner will able to advise, as the Mavic tech docs seem to require a login.
I have pulled out the QR end caps and have found a couple of black alloy spacers in my spares box which appear to have come with the wheel.
One of these fits on the non-drive side to provide the correct spacing for 135x12. Axle goes in and all appears fine.
But is this how I was supposed to do it? Will I have the right chainline now?
(Gears not added yet)

Pull the QR ends out and you're done IME.
Are these the white hubbed version?

White hubs and grey silver rim yeah. its 130mm without the spacer bit

You were right cheers, the frame dropouts needed squeezing together.
