Hi everybody,
I'm looking for some professional advise on a planed conversion from 10 to 9 speed. This in order to accommodate SRAM Attack twister 3x9 shifters (due to an motorcycle accident the twister shifter types are the only shifter types that works for me):
Current set-up Lapierre zesty 2012 frame with:
- XT FCM780 42x32x24 XL / 175mm 10 speed chainset with SHIMANO BB7141A pressfit BB
- XTR RDM980SGS 10 speed rear dérailleur
- Deore CS-HG62-10 11x36 10 speed cassette
- SLX FDM660E6X 10 speed front dérailleur
- Shimano 10 speed MTB chain
- SHIMANO 3x10 SLX shifters
Conversion to:
- XT FCM770 42x32x24 XL / 175mm chainset 9 speed with SHIMANO BB7141A pressfit BB
- XT rear 9 speed dérailleur RD-M771
- XT 9 speed cassette CS-M770 with CN-HG93 9 speed chain
- XT type 3x9 speed front dérailleur (correct type to be determined)
- SRAM Attack 1:2 (Shimano 3x9 compatible) twister shifters.
Is there someone on the forum that could check the details of this conversion and confirm (or contradict) its technical correctness?
Cheers, Konalight
Right. Don't convert.
Go to www.fantic26.de and by some converted gripshifts that work with XT 10 speed.
They work great. I have a set running with xtr.
Have a look on YouTube there are some videos around!
Feel free to mail me if you want more info.

Or wait a few weeks until SRAM XX and X.0 grip shift appear, you'll have to use a SRAM rear mech, but it's less of a bodge.
If you want to use Attack shifters specifically then you'll have to stick with 9 speed.
He won't need to change everything to convert?
@ shortcut: thanks for this truly great advise: converted Gripshifts it will be! You saved this day, and the next one to 🙂
No worries. You can't tell the difference and nothing is 'bodged'!
Very pleased with mine!
