Black chili flavour for the Conti and 3C MaxxTerra for the Maxxis.

Riding around Cannock, occasional trail centre/antur/BPW?

What does the collective reckon?

Maxxis was perfect for me, though sounds like overkill for Cannock!!

Continental still can't do tubeless so that would rule them out for me

I might get a 2.3 for Cannock and 2.5 for trail centres.

Trail kings are fantastic trail centre tyres and work great tubless: go up instantly on my flows and just need a good session doing the stan's shake to seal the sidewalls.

If you go the TKs, make sure you get the apex walls. They have a tendancy to eat through just above the bead otherwise. CRC were selling them recently as Apex enforced but were actually shipping the previous version.

I've tried both. The DHF is still on my bike, the TK is not.

2.5 minion is a big hoofin tyre tbh, I like it but I'm happy pushing a heavy draggy tyre around if it means ridiculous grip and versatility.

The trail king looks like it'll be similar but it isn't really, it rolls faster but grips less. If you want a burly trailcentrey tyre it's good but it's not as flexible, doesn't deal with wet or mud anything like as well. And even the apex sidewalls aren't great tbh (the standard ones wear out in no time, really annoying). TBH it's more a highroller 2.3 equivalent.

Ahh, HR you say. I use the TK's ATM and love them, my fav tyres ever, however I've now had 4!!! fail at the bead cos the sidewalls are so poor so I need an alternative.

Would I be better using 2.3 HR for Cannock and the 2.5 Minion for Antur/BPW?

The other bonus of 2 tyres is you can go really burly for uplifts- a 2.5 exo minion still isn't very tough really... If you want just one tyre for everything then 2.5 exo might well work for you, but it might just fall between the 2 posts.

DHR2 makes a good front for trailcentry stuff too. Lots of choice really.

I'm a big fan of the Minion - fun a DHF and DHR II or SS on my hardtail (2.3) and Cannock is my local. I use the 2.5's on the Demo. They're easy to set up tubeless and have held air like champs.

I ran Trail Kings for a while and thought they were pretty good, but the sidewalls were a bit rubbish. The rear one was full of patches by the time I sacked them off.
