I have a DMR Wrath, 24" wheel jump bike
Some bits need replaced
I don't understand how the parts work and what I need to order.
The bits that need replaced are the:
Bottom bracket (bloody hell, how confusing are bottom brackets for this style of bike?)
The chainring
The rear wheel bearing
I emailed DMR to ask but they never got back to me
Can anyone help?
Not familiar with this frame but a quick google tells me it's likely to be a euro BB with a 19mm axle crankset fitted. Replacements are about £20-£30 from any decent shop stocking BMX parts.
Chainring - BMX chainrings just slip over the axle and are fixed to the crank using a bolt on the crankarm, unless it's a direct mount setup in which case the chainring is pressed onto the axle, the axle splines match up with corresponding female splines in the chainring and it's all held square in place when the arms are tightened up. You'll be able to tell which it is because when you take the crank arms off* to get at the BB the chainring will either come off with the crankarm (normal mount), or require a massive amount of faffing to remove from the axle (direct mount). Whichever way it is, make sure you remember how many spacers are on each side before dismantling. Spacers are used to tweak the chainline and to take up any 'extra' space on the axle. As mentioned the axle on your cranks is probably 19mm, most standard chainrings are drilled for 23.8mm or something daft and come with little shims for either 22mm or 19mm axles. If you have a 48mm spline axle I'd recommend going direct mount if you can, it ensures a better fit.
Can't help you with the rear hub bearing.
* I'll say nothing but ahahahahahah.
Thanks, that's pretty comprehensive!
I waffled on a bit...
Also
ignore the mm, I just meant 48 splines, didn't mean to confuse by adding the mm units! If you have a 48mm spline axle I'd
