Sorry if this has been discussed before. Looking to convert a flat bar 'gravel' bike to drops. Currently running 1 x 11 with a Shimano XT 11-42 cassette and XTR derailleur. Looking for drop bar shifters, maybe GRX, 105 etc. Will these gear levers work with rear cassette and derailleur? I'm assuming that the hydraulic brake levers will work fine with the SLX calipers I have. Any advice welcome.
Chain and cassette are compatible, but not the rear mech.
Either get the appropriate GRX mech (specific versions for 1x and 2x) or get a Wolftooth Tanpan 11 to adapt the actuation ratio to work with your existing mech and a road STI.
MTB calipers are fine though - just need BH90 hoses with banjo fittings for the caliper end.
