So I'm off to Banchory to stay with the In-Laws-In-Sin for Christmas and Hogmany. Is there any point in bringing a bike or will the snow be over my handlebars?

I would say 'NO'. I haven't been through Banchory recently, but you'd be lucky to do any significant riding in Perthshire, and Aberdeenshire has had more snow than here.

Cheers TW, that;s pretty much what I thought. Oh well, it'll be crampons and skis instead then!

Bring your sledge, it would be more appropiate and more usefull than a bike given the amount of snow we have.

Can't speak for Banchory but in most of Aberdeenshire it's ski's fo-sho!

Ski's. You could take the bike round some of the trails in amongst the trees but there will be a heck of a lot of walking involved.
