[Closed] coil shocks - what's a good new or s/hand buy?

I'm going to do a coil shock conversion on my Trek Remedy - just eyeing up coil shocks. Don't want to drop a fortune on it (obviously...) so a CCDB is probably out of the ballpark. Currently looking at a Van RC at £280 new (TFT price, not looked for cheaper ones yet).

Any other options?
Any good s/hand options (DHX5 etc.)?

[spec is 200x57mm]

I bought a second hand DHX5 off here - it replaced an RP2. I was only intending to use it for Alps trips and uplift days but I like it so much I've decided to keep it on despite the weight penalty. It just feels considerably plusher and more predictable.

I've not really used any other coil shocks to compare it to though.

Could be worth speaking to Simon at Locotuning about a DSP Dueller too.

I have a vanilla RC that cost me £50 from eBay on my five. Works great.

If buying new from TF just get the Van R. It'll come custom tuned so you'll never be going near the compression adjuster anyway

My Pitch has had a few different variations RP2>DHX5>RP23>DHX RC4. Hoping the RC4 is the final one 🙂

The DHX5 was good also, somebody on the classifieds was looking a swap earlier (possibly).

As above new from .tf gets tuned to the bike. If your getting 2nd hand factor in the cost of a service.

Generally the more adjustment the more you can do. A proper tune removes a log of the set up fiddle and need floor some of the knobs

If you can get a DSP Dueler in your size I would heartily recommend it. £3OO delivered to your door, custom tuned with a ti spring!

cheers all. I've dropped LoCo an email so we'll see what he says. I'll re-mail you freeman.

I can get a Van RC new for 259 but the s/hand route is more attractive really, as I can probably (?) service it myself...

Sounds like a night in a log cabin on moonshine....

yeah phone typo/correct....

The stuff mates have had back from TF tuned or pushed was as good without the fiddle crap of a DHX5.

Not sure if you can self service all shocks. Marz Rocco yes. Other have a nitrogen charge.

Custom tuned DSP on my Heckler I got off the classifieds, very impressed with it.

I have a dhx in mint condition. It has had little use, been in a box for 2 years since I sold the frame (spesh enduro). Lengths are not the same as what you need, but you might be able to get it modified?
