I'm a regular rider and customer at the caff.
Checked website last night, paid my £3.50 car park fee this afternoon and set off riding only to find...........
Main Black Run closed.
Last sections of Blue and Red from the lakeside closed.
Not even mentioning the other Red route diversion.
Some compensation was the thought of an (Award Winning-what we're famous for!) bacon butty at the caff after my cold disapointment.
BUT OH NO....temporary caff, no bacon butties. Just cold sarnies and brews in disposable cups.
Funny-no mention of any of this on your website! I wonder why?
Surely its just common courtesy and loyalty to your regulars/customers to let us know especially as I travel for over an hour to get there..
And yes, I would have gone elsewhere if I'd known.
I recommend a call if you're off there any time soon.
P.S. I have a George Foreman grill I could lend you but its quite techical to set up-its 240volts only and has one of those awkward 3 pin UK plugs attached-cooks bacon a treat.
check their facebook/site first?
I was at Llandegla this morning, was gutted that there was so many diversions also.
I did not see any other rider on the trails while I was riding... nasty nasty weather there today!
"Checked website last night, paid my £3.50 car park fee this afternoon and set off riding only to find..........."
Is this a long term thing? Lokking forward to a ride there on 27th!
*scurries off to check website*
i saw om facebook the cafe closed.
im sure they'll read this and put trail closure news updates up
Checked website, nothing obvious...
I've no responsibility for the website, so can't comment on that.
But I can only apologise for the lack of hot food, the person left with the responibility for it had a dose of CBA and a lack of initiative. Soup, burgers, hot dogs and beans as well as cheese (for cheese on toast) left to use for hot options. Too much fat comes off the bacon and sets the fire alarms off as I found on Tues.
Oh and as for trail closures and parking charges, rant at Tillhill the forest owners.
I've no responsibility for the website, so can't comment on that.
But you could find out for us and post on here, yes???
Forest ops are Tillhill's bag, was away yesterday and have been off today. Because things change so quickly with harvesting etc the only way I find some stuff out is by actually going out for a ride!
Like I say complain about stuff like that through the Coed Llandegla website.
Genesis, thanks for the update. I presume you are from One Planet and appreciate that you are at the mercy of the foresters as much as the rest of us. My bother-in-law is coming over from Vancouver at Christmas and we were hoping to hit Llandegla on Sunday 27th. Can you tell me is One Planet will be open? I've promised him one of the finest bacon butties in the land. Who can I contact for trail availability? If the blacks aren't open then we may want to re-plan.
Yep I work for OPA, the trail thing is a bit tough a lot of it is subject to weather. We should be open as normal, but it will be flipping heaving on the 27th! I'll mention trying to get updates up faster.
We are shut on the 25th and on the Monday as normal.
Thanks for the update buddy!
Going home early would be better than wasting your time cycling round the trails
Great thing living a a democracy, you can actually choose where to ride.
Yeah, the best thing about llangdegla is the fact so many people enjoy it, unfortunately I thought it was a bit whack. Never mind
Sorry 59ttp, didn't recognise you for the trail god that you are.
You're not Elbry are you?
Anyway genesis, any chance you could find out tomorrow what the score is and post on here? Might save many of us a wasted journey over the weekend.
(Are you still cheffing for the rugby, or have you kicked that into touch?)
Sacked that off, now live in a cabin in the woods. I'll do my best to get something out, it will be late though as I need to try and put the caff back together!
do people not ride just to ride anymore and enjoy just being on their bike or do they they need mtb handed to them on a plate , this was once classed as a EXTREME sport - can you believe people used to ride mtb's before C-Y-B started this trail centre boom . As for the cafe last time i looked we had more than one cafe in N WALES
Sorry 59ttp, didn't recognise you for the trail god that you are. You're not Elbry are you?
I wish I was, what a dashing chap he is, I dont know whether Id prefer to be a god or him, theres maybe not much difference.
Unfortunately I was blessed with some great riding skills and a badass attitude which means I often find trail centres dull and Im not afraid to shout about it.
Gets me in all kinds of bother
Well I can't believe they'll be closed on the 25th.
i rode there last night on the way home - was well foggy - reasonable fun despite closures - i am glad its so popular for newbies but its not my cup of tea if i am honest BUT in the winter trail centres do have an appeal and the cafe can be fantastic
paul
I rode there yesterday.....Got wet and cold, but still enjoyed it, as always. I accept it may have been a bit dissapointing for people traveling a fair bit to get there. But I also accept that trail maintenance, additions and improvements needs to be done. Having seen the amount of work that has gone on recently there, I am looking forward to putting even more miles in there, then coming back to an even better cafe... Keep up the good work.
UPDATE. The red finish is closed due to forestry work, the Black that was diverted is open, trail wise that's all I know about BUT CHECK THE COED LLANDEGLA WEBSITE.
Caff is back where it should be, now the counter is a temp one bear with us it will be finished soon! And there will be some teething troubles.
Im with fivespot, theres lots of posts on here slagging off Llandegla and they must be right about it being such a bad place as its regularly packed to the rafters!
As many other posts have pointed out, the place is as good as you make it, ride it fast and your on a winner.
OK so some of its closed, so use your head and get out over the moores.
rant ends 😆
"OK so some of its closed, so use your head and get out over the moores."
Yes ,after weeks of rain go out and ride waterlogged peaty footpaths thereby tearing the living sh1t out of them, thats using your head.
