I guess it depends on how much clearance you have.. Raceblade Long 2's if not much (new ones are just out). Just fitted a set on my Volare no problem.

Are the new fittings from the raceblade long 2 compatible with the older raceblades?

Pdw full metal fenders are in a different league from race blades. Really well thought out and as solid as guards on a bike with the 'right' firings to take trad guards. They also look good!

They are pricey but, in my opinion, worth it

Are these the ones you are talking about?

I use these on my commute bike, pretty good, although I would say it would be nice for them to reach down to the BB on the rear and be a bit longer on top for the front one.

But they do the job pretty well and on and off in minutes. I kept the spare stretchy rubber to protect the frame from getting scratched where they fit.

I tried the XLs and didn't find them very good. That said, I didn't take time to drill/screw them together.
I am now using the Longs (v2) and they are great.

PDW FMFs would probably be my next choice, but for now, I'll stick with the longs. They did rub a little on the tyres at some points during my last ride, but only enough to be audible, and they sorted themselves out. I suspect it was a bit of grot that got stuck up in there... not much clearance.
