this seems like what i would like. insect season is in full swing round me.
i don't like to change the colour of the world, but it'd be nice to have polarized and good for driving too.

so do they exist?
i'm not after something pricey.

If they’re polarised, they are already blocking 50% of the light by definition I think.

So true polarised and ‘clear’ (light transmission > 90% or so) isn’t physically possible.

You can get degrees of transmission but there are none I'm aware of that would be clear.

It wouldn't be 50% but trying to find a number led me down a wormhole and still I got no answer.

They would block various UV wavelengths and then a proportion of the visible light based on how they were made. I don't actually know what proportion. I think reducing that amount becomes very expensive as you have to have very good control over the polarising filter. That is getting everything lined up at a molecular level.

I have found bolle esp lenses to be good for what you want. Only seen them in the safety glass models though. Slight colour change but not noticeable. Normal polarised, don't change the worlds colour like normal sun glasses.

yes, seems obvious but i never thought of it, they are blocking out a percentage of the light. so things will get dimmer. that's ok, it's the tinting i don't like, turning everything brown or grey or whatever.

so will lenses look clear in colour, on those bolle ones you talk about jonba, or a bit murky at least?
