1) I guess it is okay to just stick the helmet in a bowl of water and use soap power to clean the helmet, right?

I rinse my helmet after every ride stays fresh, not sure about the soap mind depends how bad your helmet is now!
Sweat doesn't have much to do with fitness... well it does in a way, if your fitter your not going to be as tired and not needing to put in as much effort so your not going to be as hot etc... however saying your not sweating much doesn't indicate your fitter... breathing less does.
I got an E2, I unthread the straps and take the pads out and bung it all in the washing machine (put them in a washing tab bag to stop them joining the washing machine bermuda?! Triangle)

Yes once you stop breathing your certainly less fit then you were a few minutes previous.
where can you get new pads from?
