[Closed] Classifieds goods not turning up, what next?

I recently bought some stuff off the classifieds and 2 weeks after it was allegedly sent, I still have nothing and the seller has stopped answering e-mails.

I have given up on the goods arriving now so I just want to get my money back, which was sent by a bank transfer.

Apart from the obvious solutions of either owning him with bombers or weeing in his shoes, does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to get my money back?

I suspect that it would be fairly easy to work out where he lives from his e-mail and the fact that I can find his facebook status quite easily, but I am not sure that is a road I want to go down!

I am presuming people have been through this before, any advice?

I think your options will be limited to pursuing this through the small claims court which probably won't be worth it unless it was for a lot of money.

At least name and shame on here so it doesn't happen again?

set up a FB acount that apears to be an attractive female, friend him saying i know you from school or some bull, get the rest of his profile information, real name, location, possibly a phone number. Give information to police. Simples.

Or do the firt bit then go round and wee in his shoes.

I doubt they'll be interested but if it's for a significant amount I'd be incline to report them to the police.

As above small claims court is most likely option - this will also hit them with costs too which gives some satisfaction.

Cheers, I will give him the rest of the day to reply to my last e-mail, and then if not I will name and shame and see if I can not get hold of his address.

problem is everyone's now looking at your posting history and wondering if it's the Hope headset that's not turned up...

2 weeks is not long enough IMO

I've had plenty of things get stuck in RM system and arrive 3-4 weeks after posting

Seller should be answering your e-mails though assuming they are not ill/away - not everyone has mobile e-mail

Are they still posting on here?

I know he is still answering e-mails because I know someone who has been in contact with him about other items, so I can only presume that I am being ignored because he does not want to talk to me, which makes me think that he has not sent the other items and is avoiding sending the money back.

Or he is fed up of replying having sent it and can do nowt until RM deal with it?

I would be wanting proof of postage tho - tracking number.

Nothing I send is done without being signed for.

Agreed it could be held up in the mail, I sent some kit sold through ebay a while ago and it took 4 weeks to get there. Not a great sign that he's ignoring you though, unless per TJ he's bored of repeating himself.

If the item was expensive then it should have been sent and tracked, for both your peace of mind.

I see TJs point and I was aware of trying to be fairly restrained on e-mailing.

I sent one last week asking if he could let me know when he sent it and any tracking details, so that I could chase it down since it appears to be lost, but no reply.
I sent something similar again this week, and again no reply. I was hoping to just get some confirmation that it was sent really. I realise it shows a lack of trust, but in that it still has not turned up and I have nothing to show that it has been sent, I think that is justified.

If it were me that had sold it I'd expect to be the one chasing RM and keeping the buyer informed.

If it hadn't turned up after 10 days I'd be refunding and persuing a claim via a RM.

It seems to me mattjng is being very fair. The seller is the post offices customer so he should be doing the chasing. All the buyer can do is phone his sorting office to see if anything is there. No excuses for the seller in these things if he isn't talking you have to assume the worst.
