Yep. Went end of October last year.
Had a great - if tiring - time. The base is a good hour and a half drive from Malaga airport and sits around 5'000ft up in the Sierra Nevadas range. The accomodation is rustic as you would expect from a Spanish mountain village. Breakfast is a self-serve affair in your own apartment, midday meals are paid for via a collective pot, seemed to work out at around 10 Euro's a day for what was usually a three course meal with drinks.
Evening meal is in Mark and Jackie's home around a large table, so very communal and the food is excellent.
Riding is great, lots - i mean LOTS - of steep switchbacks and rocky trails with some incredible views.
I am thinking of going again this year - when are you going, take me with you! ๐
ive got next week off and trying to sort a last minute booking....tried switchback and joyrider just waiting to hear back from ciclo...
Do it, get away from the dreadful weather. sunshine almost guaranteed.
Essentials for Ciclo success
Tubeless if possible against thorns.
Take Malt Loaf for Marko
Practice switchback riding
Have a massage on Wednesday from Matt
Buy something from Dave Froy
Eat squid and ink tapas in Capilliera
Have loads of coffee in Bubion
Quotes to learn
"How do they do it for the money"
"Lets get jiggy"
Go, you will have a great time...
booked in with them in September. My first time but the guys I'm going with have been several times and loved it, hence going back multiple times.
Green Light!
You will have an awesome time! I've been 3 times, but moving house & getting married next year has put the scuppers on that....well, there may be a plan in the pipeline but god knows how I'll manage to get it past the approval of the gatekeeper!
As described above, really. Accommodation is rustic, there's a pool, nice patio area and do it yourself workshop space.
The riding is technical, rocky and great fun - although sometimes a little past my skill level...
Dinner and booze is plentiful. There's a pool table that is paying for Marco's retirement...!
me and my partner went last year-same time as muddydwarf-totally ace time, would be going again this year but new job/country, and wedding put paid to that!
Will be going back again though...
Tubeless is definately a good idea!
Luckydog - were we on the same trip??
Short arse on a bright orange Marin was me ๐
...one word...singlespeed!
oh and the girlfriend was on a pink version of your marin!
how you doing fella? hope all's well...
Hiya! ๐
Yep, alls fine thanks, hope you're both good too!
Actually thinking of going back again this year if i can persuade the BOSS!
EDIT: Wedding! Congratulations to you both ๐
we were about to book when we were offered jobs in jordan...good luck persuading!
considered honeymoon there but broken bones would not have gone down well.
sorry OP for mini-hijack!
Sounds ace! Just hope theyve got room for a small one...
Luckydog - Jordan?? Lovely country, went about 15yrs ago and had an ace time. People seemed very friendly towards the Brits and it has a really chilled atmosphere.
Hope you both have a great time out there and have a lovelt wedding ๐
+1 for Ciclo.
Been there three times now, most recent trip was this March. Thinking of going again next year.
Lanjaron 70, Elephants Tail, Tourettes, Lost Bridge.....wishing I was there now.
