Hi All

So short story long

Surly Krampus build with Chris King Inset 7 headset ....I have a salsa carbon firestarter fork that I can fit no problems, but means I have to cut the steerer tube down to make it suit spacers. I had my heart set on this option, but now I am thinking should I sell the fork and just use the standard steel version 🤷🏻‍♂️ BUT the issue now is that I need a devolution base plate to get the straight steerer fork to work with the Chris king headset ...and I can’t seem to find one anywhere !!

Sage advice from singletrackers welcome 🙏 should I just bite the bullet and cut the carbon fork ? 😂 it’s just sat here looking at me !

Best

Why would cutting the steerer be a problem?

Well, if I want to sell it later, that’s my only thought ? I am just being a 😸

Is a devolution base plate to adapt a straight steerer to a tapered one?

Hope sell one of those for a tenner, goes on the fork, crown race goes over it - suspect it will work fine with any headset.

I have found the Chris King version on bike 24 so have ordered that ....I think I am going out for a ride to contemplate my lack of commitment to the gnar and failing to act on impulse and just get the hacksaw out !

If your worried about resale then don't ride them at all. That kills the value just as much. Just don't go crazy short.
