Hi all, I have just bought a spesh xc from a mate to use as xc bike. It currently has 120 mm rs tora tk on it in good nick. These are off a carrera vengeance ultimate. I also have the original forks from the spesh which are tora 302 sl 100mm. These are in good nick also but do make a bit of noise on compression. Like a creaky squelch. Out if the two which would you choose? The bike will be used for cannock, dego and local stuff. I believe the 100mm will be lighter as I think they have an alloy steerer. Cheers, chris

Both coil? The squelch is normal (normally) try adjusting the red nob at the bottom of the forks (rebound) if you have one.

100mm maybe lighter but for trail centres that extra 20mm travel would be useful.

hmm, the tk ('turnkey') damping is found on cheap forks, but is actually pretty good, i've got a few forks with this.

the 302 sl is, i think, found on even cheaper forks - but i have no experience using them.

so, i think, the tora tk forks have got better damping, but might weigh a bit more. and the 302 sl forks are less well damped, but maybe a bit lighter.

i'd choose the tora tk forks. heavy but good, and reliable.
