After spending longer cleaning our bikes than riding them last weekend (mud south of Bath, and a disappointing trip down Pipehouse Lane...) I'm after something I little dryer near Cheltenham if possible. What's the Cold Ashton area like?

We're pootling around FoD on Sunday morning, and staying in 'Nam tomorrow night, so looking for something around there for a change.

Done lots of riding around Dursley, Wooten etc, so ideally looking for further north.

Thanks

Is Malvern too far North for you? Pretty all weather up here. ๐Ÿ™‚

I've only ridden on the Malverns once, on a very sunny dry day with a lot of ramblers. It felt a bit congested, but then I didnt really know where I was going to followed the obvious bridleways.

We spent most of June and July riding in Europe, this weather is starting to get me down...

Well there's your mistake right there. If you're going to ride at the weekend try to ride early or late (actually to some extent that applies midweek at the moment). That or when the weather's not so good.

The only local riding to Cheltenham that is dry is the top of Cleeve, Cotswold dusty is an experience!

It wasn't too bad off road last Saturday, but it has rained since. Just become a roadie, saves so much time and money.

I've had many a dusty day on Stinchcombe and Nibley hills, and even some as 'far' north as Uley!! Nothing can be as bad as the Cotswolds to the south of Bath, so I was ready to give it a go...

I dont get the bit about the road bike thing though?!

if you know the trails, the farm tracks around duntisbourne, Cleeve, Parts of Bredon etc do hold up, basically ontop of the hills exposed to the wind and what little sun there is, there will be lakes but you can ride, if you go into the valley bottoms or the woods it gets very sticky. Alot of the trails simpy can't dry and have become almost unusable.

The road bike thing, i like going for a ride rather than a walk with a bike.

We were at Stinchcombe last week.....I'm from that way originally (but didn't ride then). How awesomely spectacular are some of the trails? We had VERY much fun!

Yep, there's a lot of good stuff there, all the way out through the woods above Dursley is excellent, there's even some reasonable built DH stuff to be found.
