[#9862102]

I'm very close to pushing the button on a new bird aeris 120 frame (just waiting to give one a test ride). My plan is to transfer all the parts from my current bike.ย  The problem is my rear wheel is not boost.ย  Has anyone seen any deals on cheap rear boost wheels? Only after something cheap as I hope to be upgrading the whole wheelset this time next year.

Cheers!

Good plan!

Maybe check actionsports.de if you like.

Recently ordered quite some custom wheels from them.

Example boost rear wheel (this was 29"):

DT 370 hub + 6 bolt + for Shimano 2x10 + 25 mm inner bead FunWorks rims (that's their brand) for 115 Euros

I'am very, very happy with the quality. Takes around 12 days to get the wheel. Huge configurator page. Custom wheels from 80 to 600 Euros...

For my new 150/150 full suspension project I will go with actionsports as well - DT 370 and FunWorks rims, but wider - for 2.6 rubber.

Depends on your idea of cheap but try Halo wheels. You can buy them direct from their website if you can't find any elsewhere & if you're thinking of upgrading anyway maybe you could buy a rear & then add the front later?

Will have a look at halo thanks.ย  My fork isn't boost so I think I'll struggle getting a wheelset with a boost rear and non boost front.ย  Or are these available?

If your going to upgrade the whole wheel set soon why not just run one of the boost converter kits for a bit...

As for new wheel set build something that has a front hub that can be nicely converted to boost (pro4, dtswiss etc)

Converter kit works well, I fitted one to a standard wheel the other day to BOOST it.

You can buy individual wheels from Halo & mix n match. I have the same boost/non boost issue with my YT so bought a single rear wheel to match a front I already had.

Boost adaptorย  http://www.xcracer.com/shop/viewproduct.php?productid=447 is cheapest way to go or try Alpkit for some plus wheels https://www.alpkit.com/products/love-mud-hobo-650b-boost-wheelset

The wheel is of the 135mm qr variety, I'm assuming that an adaptor won't be available due to the difference in axle type.

Go for a wheelset where you can buy the front and rear separately?

I don't think there's any saving for buying Hope wheels together, for example.
