So I have been here before,, I have owned most types of bikes over the years - my main toy of choice has been enduro bikes, but I have owned gravel/adventure bikes also but never invested much time into them.
I haven’t rode really for around 12months - 2 years mainly down to time but I need exercise, I can’t really run down to knees etc so I’m thinking getting a cheapish cyclocross/adventure bike - purely as the roads around here (Shropshire) are not the smoothest but equally can pick up trails. I sold my enduro bike recently to fund car repairs so after something cheap and cheerful - so far I have managed to find a Voodoo Limba for my budget, Iv owned a Nakisi before and that was good but wondering what’s a good alternative to pick up or look out for on the market?
Any ideas on your Budget?
Bike prices have gone crackers lately, apparently there's been some sort of pandemic... Anyway, someone will be along shortly to tell you you're wrong and you really want a Hardtail 29er.
My advice is look for more common brands/models on the used market, don't get too hung up on drivetrain 1x/2x/3x however many clicks on the back or however posh the parts everything from Sora/apex up works well enough. Hydraulic discs would be my preference now, but cable discs can and do work if set-up and maintained well, you might save some cash if you're willing to use rim brakes, how much are you willing to "regress"?
Which Limba is it? I had the older model with the scandium frame and carbon stays, it didn't fit me at all but it was bloody brilliant otherwise. All decent kit on it too. It did have cantis and they did suck donkey balls but I put cheap BMX Vs on it and they transformed it.
I’m not sure yet to be honest - it has disc brakes so I’m guessing fairly recent - on the used market I have pushed my budget to £200 - would love another CAADX if I come across one,, but appreciate budget too low - how do the Limbas vary to the Nakisi
