im planning to install a gxp descendant crankset (32T 170mm direct mount) on my bike with a 12x142 (non boost) rear. should i be getting any offsets on my chainring? kindly advise. thanks

Depends if the crank is boost or not. If your bike is non Boost it’s expecting a 49mm chainline.  If the crank is non Boost then no offsets.

For non boost you'll need a direct mount chain ring with a 6mm offset.

sorry but im a bit new to this stuff just started riding a few months ago. my frame is a marin mount vision 6 (2016) with a 12x142 rear hub. i used to run an slx 32T cranks (non boost) and kind off switching to SRAM. do i get the 3, 6, or no offset cranksets/chainring (32T). confused so need a better explanation

Hi. You need 6mm offset for non boost. 3mm for boost and 0mm for pf BB.
