Long shot!
I'm heading into London to meet some friends- cycling and having a few drinks. Such a pain to take my bike into London as you need to book it onto the train, and I'm not 100% on timings.

Is there anywhere in central London that does MTB rental for the day? If I'm cycling round I'd prefer to have a bit of fun, rather than being stuck on the heavy underbraked Boris bike. I'll be heading in Sunday, just to complicate things.

Thanks for the link.
I guess it's a very niche request.

You could demo a mountain bike for a longer period of time maybe? Lots of shops around with basic ish MTBs, for high end try Soho Cycles

You should really try renting a Brompton, it'll be cheapest way to have a bike for a bit and you'll be amazed at how good they are in an urban environnent. The little wheels and lack of stem mean their turning circle is incredible so wiggling between cars in traffic is fun

If nothing else, the there will always be a Boris Bike. They can be bunny hopped, riden down stairs, manual'd off kerbs, etc. Best experienced after quite a lot of pints

Yeah, 'cos in the dry the brakes aren't exactly 'confidence inspiring', so only usually lock up in the wet (incidentally it's p1ssing down in that there London right now)

Might have to start drinking on the train then to make it more bearable.
To be fair, Boris bikes are functional.. but that's it.

For ease of use, Boris bike or Brompton is best

Boris bike is better for short blats (pootles). If you want one all day the Brompton might be your best bet.

If you've not tried a Brompton before this is a cracking opportunity
