Any one know if the top section has reopened yet?

Not yet as far as I know. Really hoping they've done something interesting with all those switchbacks.

Was up today and the top is open (do not let the snow put you off it only lasts on the road for 200 feet). The top is much wider and smoother 😥 but it seems better drained and they have put in about 6 jumps or so 😆 so all in all it is okay

I am hoping to get a roof rack and bike carrier soon so I think I will have to pop up to Carron Valley one time as it is not too far away from me.

I quite liked the old ones. I liked the challenge of carrying speed through them. It made a change from the usual berm fests.

Cheers.

Yeah, those flat switchbacks are pretty much the only bit I remember from that part of the trail, they were nice just for being a change from berms. Hopefully they'll have added some more interest to that part to make it worth riding.

From having sifted through the feedback that we used to gather on the CVDG website, opinion was er, "divided" on the switchbacks. Most people seemed to like the change from big bermed corners. Important to remember that the Carron Valley Partnership / CVDG's ultimate aim was to turn Eas Dubh into a climb taking you higher up onto the hill, hence not berming them.

Good to hear of investment at CV given stuff going on elsewhere. Looking forward to heading up for a spin.

I'm really surprised that the FC is investing in CV. I thought their game plan there was to let it wither. I must return for a look, it's been a while.

I loved the flat switchbacks as they were very good for practicing on and you got so many turns for you money if you went straight back up and did it again.

Berms on an uphill trail - now there's a thought...

Not as if E D is so steep that berming should have rendered the trail useless as a climb. Might require some minor changes to the DNA in FCS management structure but perhaps it is still possible for an enlightened FC Manager of the future to add some more trail at CV 😉
