Asking for a mate
Budget is 1k max. Ideally 45- 55 mm
Back in the day I'd have suggested something from prime but nowadays options seem thin on the ground.
Is light bicycle still decent for rim brake options. Alternatively I've had a good experience with parcours
Hunt still do rim brake wheelsets.
Perhaps Scribe Core Superlight? (£1 under budget)
Are they open to 2nd hand?
There are some bargain lightly used rim brake wheels out there, wheels that were 2.5k-3k new for as low as £700 (Campag Bora Ultra clinchers)
There was a set of Vision Metron 55 wheels for sale a while ago, 55m deep, rim brake, clinchers, they sold for £500 and the RRP was £1700
Im always a bit dubious about 2nd hand carbon rim brake wheelsets!
I see hunt have a set for under 700 quid that may be perfect.
Can you still get Zipp 303’s ? I’ve got some and they are brilliant

Yeah, I delaminated a carbon rim on an old rim brake bike. It still looks fine on cursory inspection, it's only when you ride the thing and try and use the brakes, you realise it's wrecked!
It's not to say that all S/H carbon wheels are bad but do give them a thorough check if buying S/H!
Elite do rim brake carbon wheels if you don't mind direct from China...
Just looked at Zipp 303s and they are now silly prices. I paid ~£1k for front and rear, now looks like they are £1k a wheel !
CES Wheels. I have some and they have been very good. Good company to deal with as well.

I'd be looking at one of the asian brands myself; I've had Light Bicycle rims in the past that have been good.
Contacting some of the Chinese OEMs is probably worthwhile. I've had good service from Zen Carbon recently. Crap website but they put together a nice set of winter/cross wheels for me. XMS carbon speed and Serenade have decent reputations too. For all of them you'll need to email to see exactly what they can offer and for accurate prices.
