Sounds horrible on my road bike. Pads seem well adjusted and slightly toe-in, but I get some horrible squeal on hard braking and it’s been suggested I clean the rims braking surface.
What with, to avoid damaging the rims.
Thanks

Carbon brake howl is pretty standard. Every single person I've ridden with using carbon rims and a variety of pads has had it squeel like a banshee under certain conditions. My carbon disk and px 80 howl in damp conditions using swissstop yellows-the rear actually pulses . One of the lads gets a really high amplitude almost growl under hard breaking he's using Swiss stop blacks with yellow writing.
The long term solution seems to be disks.
