Is it me or are the manufacturers a little coy when it comes to telling us about the frames we're buying?
I mean things like 'Bi-Mold' 'multi weave' 'special process' WTF does it all mean?
For example in CW I read about a particular road bike, but all they go on about is the equipment spec/level. I think most people know they're 105/XT/Ultegra etc. So it makes me think that the customers are buying well specced running gear on second rate frames. They go on about racers wanting Ultegra Ui2 at a price point, so they downgrade the frame to meet this demand? So racers want nice bits on pants frames, doesn't sound right.
I'll be needing a new bike soon I hope, Giant TCR Advanced is still top of the list. Looking around it seems the best sub 3k T800 frame about. I'd be interested in others if they told me what I was buying, but I think the market is for carbon at any cost with SRAM Red?
Cheap carbon frames are essentially all just generic, there's nothing special to shout about them. Look at top end frames when there are differentiating features in the process and they'll talk about it.
No different to alu. A £400 bike will get more mention of the fork than the basic butted alu frame.
You worry too much.
