We will be in touch
Hi all ..
My chain stay protector on my YT capra has come lose, it's a carbon chain stay and it looks like YT adhered it with a glue or double sided tape of some sort. I've emailed them twice, with no reply on this particular matter.
Has anyone got any recommendations? What is safe for carbon? Anything?
Cheers
Most double sided tape would be fine. Or two part epoxy if you never want to remove it.
Two part epoxy will be fine, e.g. this
Why believe me? I spent several years deisinging and making composite tubes, I use two part epoxy to fix bikes based on this and have never had an issue.
Edit: try and remove some mystery span formatting.
Thanks very much chaps.
I might use both actually, see how I get on with some good double sided, incase I do ever need to remove it (for invisiframe replacement maybe) and if that doesn't last, I'll give the two part epoxy a go.
I take it any form of double sided tape, like number plate adhesive tape will be safe?
Just make sure it's as clean as you can get it. Allow it a good time to dry if you're wet cleaning.
I used epoxy on mine but definitely did not want it to come off.
The downturn barrel adjuster seized. It was riveted on, so I took the bold step of drilling the rivets out, then I was able to free up and replace the adjuster, and I glued it back on. Has been solid for about 7 years.
