Has anyone ever heard of a broken carbon cross fork? I'm talking standard cross fork for canti's, rather than a disc specific model, broken through "normal" riding, rather than a crash. I had one, but was nervous of it and changed it for a steel fork instead.

Thanks,
Steve

Been running carbon CX forks for a few years without any problems, did see a pair snap at the steerer base during the 3 peaks race a few years ago though, fella went down very hard. Whether you consider the 3 peaks to be normal CX is another matter.

Carbon / plastic (CFRP) forks breaking is probably more accident damage than anything else.

Had a cannondale carbon fork and and now an easton EX90 fork (full carbon inc. steerer) - seems tough enough, I would say the easton is stupid light but stiffer so seems like the holy grail, much less flex/judder than the cheaper carbon/alloy fork.

If you see how hard crossers ride at obstacles you wouldn't worry.
