Spot of drink driving gone wrong and pure coincidence that it is final day of TdF.
It's interesting how this is being reported - I guess most newsfeeds use the same source?
The edge does seem to be coming off the story now - the narrative becoming less dramatic, moving from what was (and in some cases still is) being reported as a deliberate, targeted incident (like this):
"Police fired at a car as it tried to smash through a security barrier set up for the finals of the Tour de France bike race in Paris, sparking a huge manhunt in the French capital Sunday morning."

... down to someone potentially just trying to get up a bit of road that was closed. (Which could of course, be to test the reactivity of security forces et cetera).
The exchange of fire part of the story is at best 'unclear', and the BBC's correspondents [url=www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33668196]suggestion[/url] is that "it could have been a reveller driving home from a night out".
We live in dangerous times.
they are not even mentioning it on 24h news chanels in France.
Cycling news has them hitting another car first before driving off and then trying to get through barrier section. Not thought to be terrorism related.
I wonder if Lebel is on duty today.
